A Pair of Suspects Charged for Jail Killing of Lostprophets Singer Ian Watkins

Two men have been formally charged with murder after the death in prison of ex-Lostprophets frontman and found guilty of child sex crimes Ian Watkins.

Samuel Dodsworth, 43, and Rashid Gedel, 25 now face murder accusations and are set to face Leeds magistrates’ court on Monday morning, as stated by investigating officers.

Watkins, 48, was serving a 29-year sentence at HMP Wakefield, alongside six more years under supervision, after pleading guilty to multiple sexual crimes which included the attempted rape of a baby.

Watkins was apprehended subsequent to a substance-related warrant at his Pontypridd home on 21 September 2012, when a significant quantity of computers, mobile phones and data storage units were seized.
