One woman has been arrested after hospital gas systems were allegedly sabotaged at a pair of metropolitan healthcare centers.

The Sutherland medical facility in southern Sydney lost critical gas supplies on early Tuesday, forcing staff to transition to portable oxygen and air as part of their contingency plans, according to medical authorities.

"The cause of the loss to gas systems appears to be deliberate sabotage," authorities stated.

Police Investigation

NSW police confirmed receiving reports of "suspected intentional damage at two hospitals in the Caringbah area." It's understood that the other facility was a nearby private hospital.

Police alleged a female in her forties entered the grounds of a medical facility on Kareena Road premises at approximately just after midnight on Tuesday morning and "severed utility lines, then turning on fire hoses."

Investigators additionally claim that at approximately early morning, "the woman accessed the property of another hospital on Kareena Road ... and reportedly switched off the primary gas supply."

The individual was apprehended in Miranda at approximately 4:00 AM on Tuesday morning for breach of bail, according to police.

Hospital Response

Medical authorities confirmed that gas systems were restored by hospital teams and local health district "in about two hours time."

"I want to assure the community patient care was not affected to medical services and that the facility has returned to operating as per normal," officials stated.
