Heroic Train Staff Member Endures Severe Injuries During Multiple Stabbing Incident on High-Speed Train
A courageous train employee who stepped in to protect travelers during a multiple knife incident on a express train has suffered life-threatening wounds, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

CCTV footage reportedly depicts the employee attempting to stop the assailant as the train traveled between a city and Huntingdon in the county. Bystanders recounted a frightening 14-minute period after the train left Peterborough, with injured victims fleeing through carriages.
The suspect, a 32-year-old British national from Peterborough, remains in detention for interrogation. Police declared a significant incident on the 6:25 pm service from Peterborough to King's Cross in central London.

The incident on Saturday night led to 11 people being cared for in hospital after the train made an unplanned stop at platform 2 in Huntingdon. Five individuals have since been discharged from medical care.
A witness filmed the individual brandishing a big knife and being subdued with a Taser as he confronted police on the platform. He was allegedly heard shouting, "End my life, kill me."
“This awful event has created broad consequences. We are thinking of the victims and their families – especially the brave member of train personnel whose family are being supported by specialist personnel,” said a high-ranking law enforcement official.
Union Reaction and Appeals for Measures
Rail unions were quick to praise staff and call for increased action. One labor leader said he would be “seeking immediate meetings with authorities, rail employers and law enforcement to guarantee that we have the best available support, tools and effective procedures in place”.
A different union leader encouraged the rail company and authorities “to move swiftly to review security, to help the affected employees, and to ensure that no incident like this happens again”.
Operator Praised for Rapid Action
The train driver who stopped the train at Huntingdon was reported as being “very shaken” but “well”, and has been commended by association representatives for doing “exactly the right thing”.
“He did not halt the service in the middle of two stations where it’s obviously challenging for the first responders to access, but he carried on going until he arrived to Huntingdon, where the assistance was pretty much already there,” explained a association official.

Police stated they received the initial distress reports at 7:39 pm, and the train was compelled to make an unplanned stop in Huntingdon at 7:50 pm.
One observer described initially wondering if the situation was a holiday prank, but quickly realized from people's expressions that it was real.
Authorities have confirmed there is no evidence to indicate the incident was a terror-related attack and have asked the public to provide with any additional information.
Train operations on the impacted line are expected to have disruption until the following day, with passengers advised to defer their journeys where possible.
