Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
