Rise, Sir David Beckham: Football Legend Honoured by the Monarch at Royal Windsor Ceremony
David Beckham was bestowed with a knighthood at the historic royal residence on Tuesday. The ex-national team leader, fifty, was among those accepting honours for his services to sport and charity. Earlier this year, he expressed he was âimmensely proudâ of being acknowledged in the monarch's annual honors list.
Football Career Highlights
Beckham first appeared in England's top division for Manchester United in 1995 and was part of the team that earned a thrilling Champions League final victory in 1999 when they beat Bayern Munich with two late goals.
In total, he netted eighty-five scores and collected honours including six Premier League titles and domestic cup wins as a footballer, before ending his playing career in 2013. In addition to his sports endeavors, he has backed a number of charity causes, including acting as a goodwill ambassador for humanitarian aid organisation the United Nations Children's Fund since 2005.

Philanthropy and Beyond
In the previous year, the sports star, who has referred to himself as a âdevoted monarchistâ, was named an ambassador for the royal educational charity, an non-profit organization established by the King in the early nineties. In 1998 he was declared top fashion icon by GQ magazine and he has posed for companies such as the fashion retailer, Armani, and the luxury label.
David married his wife Victoria in the turn of the millennium and the pair have a family of four kids together â their eldest, the second son, Cruz, and Harper.
