The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will return for the latest Hunger Games series film, Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Significant Return to Panem
The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their cameos will likely occur in a flash-forward sequence, as the original saga concluded with their characters living in peace.
This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

- Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
