The families of teenagers unaccounted for after a tragic inferno at a bar in a Swiss winter destination are facing an agonising wait for answers and pleading for any details about their family members online.

The inferno ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Circulated footage show the roof structure being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are held aloft.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take an extended period to formally name the fatalities of the tragedy, which claimed the lives of four dozen individuals and injured another over a hundred. A spokesperson said on Friday that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with the process ongoing to locate the remaining few.

In the interim, loved ones have been taking to social media to request clues about their loved ones who were in attendance that fateful night.

Appeals for the Missing

The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an public plea from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, told a publication that she had gone back to Lausanne to see if he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the same in the capital, but was unsuccessful.

"It feels like a terrible dream, a horror. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. Words cannot describe it," she said.

She continued that some of his peers had been discovered with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured a terrifying ordeal."

The Italian government has said that six of its young people remain missing.

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His parent explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with a group and ended up at the venue.

"Someone with him informed me they ran away after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she said, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators said, "I've always been struck by his kindness and positive demeanor, coupled with great maturity. He would frequently ask if get me a coffee."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives permanently in the country, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to media.

Her sibling has posted an appeal on social media, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her other nation say they are closely watching the case.
